n our fast paced society, delayed gratification is a term that has become almost obsolete. Yet when it comes to the dream of losing weight quickly, can we turn that dream into a reality?
You come up with the perfect new idea for Apple and they purchase it for millions, or a long lost relative you never met leaves you their private haven in the Caribbean. These are dreams that we would all enjoy having come true, but highly unlikely that will happen!
However, other dreams can come true...including the dream of quick, safe, and long term weight loss. The key here is altering the habits that caused the weight gain in the first place, and doing the right things on a consistent basis. This is vital for long term results and health, but we all understand that if we see quick results and feel great in the beginning of our weight loss program that will help us to be motivated to continue.
However, for many people that may have issues with metabolism, yo-yo dieting in the past, or other factors that inhibit their weight loss, the tried and true methods of healthy eating and exercise are not enough to accomplish their quick weight loss goals, although obviously those are the basics for long term weight loss. The long term health benefits of being diligent are well worth your while!
The first step is always to create a body that burns fat even while at rest. Exercise that strengthens your core and builds muscle will aid this process. Early morning exercise is often recommended for this, simply to maintain your fat burning throughout the day. There are easy ways to achieve this in your day to day activities that can help! What do you do and where do you go that you can add extra steps? Do laps around the outside aisles at the grocery store to increase your movement, park further away and walk an extra few minutes each day to your destinations, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and grab a pedometer to track your daily increase!
Once you begin to pay attention to your body and it's daily movements, it's time to seek out some form of exercise that you can fall in love with. Grab a friend and try a dance class, or a sport. It's time to think outside of your normal thought process, you may try several things but I am confident that some form of exercise exists for everyone that they can enjoy! If you can find your perfect fit, exercise will cease to be tedious, and become something to look forward to!
And remember, you are never to old! Never having been an athlete or having played a sport, I took up tennis in my early 40's at the request of my husband. I grabbed a girlfriend and we took some lessons, and we both very quickly fell in love with it! I've met many a person on the courts that took it up in their 40's, 50's, and even 60's! I have a friend that took up martial arts in her 50's and fell in love with it, much to her surprise!
Food is of vital importance to your quick weight loss goals! Not eating enough will inhibit long term effectiveness, and eating too much will obviously cause more calories in and more pounds added! Eating small meals more often helps you feel less hungry, especially if you focus on nutritious foods...your body craves the vitamins and minerals and if you eat foods without them you will soon crave more food!
A food and exercise tracking aid can help immensely in this process. There are tons of great ones available online that will allow you to really see what your daily caloric intake is, how many calories you are burning with your exercise, and even track the amount of water you are drinking.
If you take the time to figure out what your habits are, and change up the ones that are causing you to not achieve your goals, you can make a huge impact on achieving your healthy body weight. Move your body more, pay attention to what you eat, and find an effective weight loss aid for you and you can quickly enjoy the results of your efforts!
