It was said that Sridevi will play the protagonist and will be play the role of a lady speaking English and the hilarious sequences that takes place in the process to learn the language forms the rest of the story.Amitabh Bachchan is playing a cameo in the film and he shot with us for a day".[4]

The film rights have been bought by Eros International for a sum for Rs. 20 crore owing to Sridevi's continuing popularity and superstar status.

The film marks the Bollywood debut of actress Priya Anand,[7] whose previous work is in the Tamil and Telugu cinemas. It is also the directorial debut of Gauri Shinde and has been shot mostly in New York.[7] Balki also clarified that, other than Sridevi all the actors in the film will be new.[4] The principal photography concluded in October and the film will also be dubbed and released in Tamil and Telugu.[4][1][7]

The first look of English Vinglish was launched on 14 June 2012. The official distributor Eros International posted the first look video and poster on 14 June on YouTube and Twitter.[8][9]. The two-minute teaser showed Sridevi reading out the Censor Certificate of the film in deliberate broken English according to her character Sashi in the film who struggles with the language. The first look met with a very positive response and was praised for its unique and fresh concept.[10][11] The full theatrical trailer was unveiled at a special media event on 13 August 2012 to coincide with Sridevi's birthday. The trailer met with an overwhelming response and went viral on YouTube crossing one million views within a week of release.[12] Sridevi's performance in the trailer was also highly acclaimed by her fans and the media with Hindustan Times reporting, "Sridevi casts a spell in English Vinglish."[13] Tamil and Telugu theatrical trailers were subsequently released at Chennai and Hyderabad respectively.

The Barrens (2012 movie full cast crew actors directors

HorrorNewsNetwork.net Review of "The Brrens" Darren Bousman's "The Barrens" is coming to DVD/Blu Ry on October 9th. With the combination of Bousman, Stephen Moyer, and the story of the "Jersey Devil," I was totally game for this one. The question was, would it live up to my high expectations?

The tale of Richard Vineyard (Moyer) taking his dysfunctional family camping begins badly as it is immediately clear that he's just a bit "off." Richard is clearly agitated, as he moves his family from the main campground to "real camping." This is horror people…you know this is where the story takes a really nasty turn.

There are a many layers to "The Barrens." There's not only the haunt of the Jersey Devil, but also Richard's battle within his own mind with his sanity. Moyer does an absolutely fantastic job of portraying the many faces of insanity. This leads to another terrifying piece of the story. The absolute reign of terror he inflicts in his family. Mia Kirshner also gives a standout performance as his wife Cynthia, whose character goes through quite the journey in this film.

The movie, for me, was more of a psychological thriller. The personality changes, uncontrollable violent mood swings, and complete unpredictability of Richard is the real horror in this film. For hardcore horror fans, yes, there is blood and gore. I will say, however, the actual visual of the Jersey Devil wasn't that impressive. The image of a small child, face down, floating down a river was by far more chilling . This is where "The Barrens" hits the mark as a psychological horror flick.

Is the "Jersey Devil" real, or just one of Richard's hallucinations? How does the family fare in the end? I suggest you watch to find out for yourself

Alexander movie cast crew storyline

The audience is not being able to understand the difference between ancient and modern morals, but to be honest I don't care about the wider audience. Why should Oliver have to sugarcoat and alter his work simply because the 'MTV generation' and mass TV watchers of the United States don't know their history? I say he shouldn't. Their ignorance is *their* problem, not Oliver's. In a long shot, Oliver Stone chose to create a historically accurate film around the life of a man, both fact and fiction, who created the gateway for humanity's future path. Many will not appreciate this film, because their minds are too stuffed with current calamity to realize where their freedoms and dreams of equality originated from. This is a brilliant film, which was portrayed correctly, from a personable point of view, to create the character of Alexander in the manner in which he lived; uninhibited by other influences save those whom he loved and knew were trustworthy. This movie is about the origins not only of the Western mind and intellect, but also plan larger into the scheme of the man who saw and dreamt of the future- a world which accepted each other and lived together in diversity in harmony. This man was Alexander-- our Western father. Like it, hate it; it doesn't really matter. The fact is, Oliver Stone brought to his team of experts internationally respected historians to make this film as accurate historically as possible. This should not go without notice. Colin Farrell, a known Irish- now Hollywood loverboy, does indeed display the heart and integrity of a natural born leader. He has lead this cast in an epic performance, well past his personal years and experience. He is worthy of praise in his portrayal of Alexander. The movie is fantastic; Well done, Olivier, Colin, etc... Well done

Are You After the Perfect Body?

The perfect body. We dream about it, we do crazy things in pursuit of it (Cabbage diet anyone?) and, despite all of the hard work, we rarely achieve it. Witness this conversation I overhead at the gym between two women:

(As a tall, thin and glistening woman walked by) "Oh, look at her. She's so skinny. She probably hasn't eaten since Clinton was president."
"You know she's had work done — nobody could look that perfect without some help."
"Listen to you talk! I would kill for your thighs."
"Oh, please — look at these flabby things! And you're one to talk, Ms. Perfect Abs."
"Perfect? Maybe perfectly awful."

These women looked amazing but, like many of us, they were so focused on their imperfections, they weren't seeing what I was seeing. And it's not just women who are hard on themselves. Men have their own issues too, as illustrated by this conversation between my husband and one of his buddies:

"Dude, I'm getting fat."
"Dude."
(Shrugging) "Let's go get a beer."

Whether you're a man or a woman, chances are you don't have the perfect body. Chances are even greater that you've done things to get the perfect body, such as leg lifts, crunches, squats, lunges, hours on the treadmill, hundreds of salads, thousands of glasses of water — all the while hoping that you'll finally get rid of those love handles or those chunky thighs.

What you've probably figured out is that all the exercise and dieting in the world may not be enough to achieve that perfection so many of us desire; we're still a product of our genes. The question then becomes, "How much can we really change and what do we do if we can't get that perfect body?"

How Much Can You Change Your Body?

We all approach our bodies differently. Some people scrutinize every detail to see what they have or haven't achieved. Others studiously avoid looking at themselves unless they absolutely have to. We see people at the gym or on the street and think, "Why can't I look like that?"

One reason is that many aspects of your body are determined by factors beyond your control, and that starts with your body type.

What's Your Body Type?

While we don't know the exact role genes play in what we can accomplish with our bodies, we do know that they determine basic body type. These body types have been broken down into three different categories:
Endomorph - This body type tends to have a higher body fat, big bones and a slower metabolism. For that reason, it may be difficult to lose weight.
Mesomorph - With this body type, a person is more muscular and may have an easier time losing fat and gaining muscle.
Ectomorph - People with this body type tend to be lean and may even have trouble gaining weight due to a faster metabolism.

Most of us fall somewhere in between these different body types, which means that some of us will lose weight easily and quickly while others won't. There are also different body shapes: An apple shape is larger in the upper body, a pear shape is larger in the hips and thighs, an hourglass has a proportional upper and lower body with a smaller waist and an athletic shape is often thin without many curves. Depending on which shape you have, you'll likely have areas where you store excess fat, making those areas the toughest to change.

While we may think that the right combination of exercise and diet will give us the ideal body, we may be limited by our inherited body type.

So what does that mean for you? The truth is, no one can tell what you can or can't change about your body. You can lose or gain fat by burning more or less calories, and you can change the amount of muscle you have by lifting weights. You can control the calories you put in your body and the calories you expend with exercise and activity, but what you can't do is choose where you lose that fat or gain that muscle.

So what if you do everything right and you still have stubborn areas of fat you can't seem to get rid of? One option is, of course, plastic surgery, but I have a better idea: Instead of trying to change what may be out of reach, what if you changed your body image? What if you could forget about getting the perfect body and work on getting your perfect body? It all starts with learning to accept your body and working on some new goals for yourself.

Accepting Your Body

The idea of accepting your body just the way it is may seem completely foreign to you. In fact, it feels like the world around us is set on keeping us unhappy with our bodies. We constantly see ads, commercials and infomercials for diets, pills and gadgets to help us reshape every inch of our bodies. There are magazines with headlines promising solutions for everything from flabby abs to dimpled thighs. If you didn't know better, you'd think getting the perfect body is something we should all be working on day and night.

In addition, we may balk at the idea of body acceptance. If we accept our bodies, won't we become complacent? If we embrace our imperfections, won't we lose our motivation to exercise or eat right?

Actually, the opposite is true. Some studies have shown that a healthy body acceptance actually encourages us to exercise and eat right. The reason? People who are comfortable with their bodies emphasize function over appearance, so they eat more intuitively, eating foods that make them feel good when they're hungry. Meanwhile, people who diet because of body dissatisfaction are more likely to fail.

There are a number of ways to work on body acceptance, including learning how to be more aware of of your body. Exercise is also a great way to build confidence, get more connected and appreciate how strong you are. Learning how to shift your focus from the perfect body to a healthy body may mean setting new exercise goals. That's your first step toward body acceptance.

Diet Ideas to Lose Weight

The goal of any diet is, obviously, to lose weight. The only (nonsurgical) way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume. If you are not willing or able to exercise to burn more calories, your weight-loss efforts should focus on decreasing your daily calorie intake.
The Stomach/Brain Connection

According to research studies like those conducted at the University of Florida, it takes your brain about 10 minutes to "catch up" with your stomach, or to realize that your stomach is full. This leads to overeating. Eating slower, such as taking smaller bites and more time in between forkfuls, will allow your brain to catch up with your stomach, helping you to stop eating sooner and to eat less, according to Yijun Liu, assistant professor at the McKnight Brain Institute.
Portion Control

You will be less likely to overeat if you eat only pre-portioned meals and snacks than you will if you keep scooping from the pot or grabbing from the box. For example, while more expensive, individual packets of cookies are often 100 calories and enough to satisfy a craving. If you tried to satisfy that same craving by digging into a full bag or box of cookies, you may not stop at 100 calories. To save money, buy larger boxes or bags of food items, then transfer the contents to smaller, plastic sandwich bags to create healthy portions. Once you've eaten a pre-packaged portion, you have a measurement that tells you, "enough," and you'll be less likely to open a second package of snacks.
Making large pots of soups, stews or other entrees, and then dividing them into freezable, single portions will also help you control the amount of food you eat. Cook these dishes after you have eaten a meal to prevent you from tasting and eating too much of what you're preparing.
Graze

Eating throughout the day keeps your metabolism up and burning more calories. Eating only once or twice a day causes your metabolism to go into "starvation" mode and slow down calorie burning. Fasting also leads to overeating, so eat five or more smaller meals and snacks per day. A 2,000-calorie daily intake, eaten in one or two sittings, is not the same as eating those same 2,000 calories during the entire course of a day.
Reduce Calories When Eating Out

If you're heading to a restaurant with friends, or will be attending a party with plenty of hors d'oeuvre, have something to eat before you leave the house. You never know when food will be served when you dine out, and you'll be less likely to overindulge on high-fat, high-cholesterol, high-calorie foods if you've just eaten a healthy snack or meal.

The Quick Weight Loss Dream

n our fast paced society, delayed gratification is a term that has become almost obsolete. Yet when it comes to the dream of losing weight quickly, can we turn that dream into a reality?

You come up with the perfect new idea for Apple and they purchase it for millions, or a long lost relative you never met leaves you their private haven in the Caribbean. These are dreams that we would all enjoy having come true, but highly unlikely that will happen!

However, other dreams can come true...including the dream of quick, safe, and long term weight loss. The key here is altering the habits that caused the weight gain in the first place, and doing the right things on a consistent basis. This is vital for long term results and health, but we all understand that if we see quick results and feel great in the beginning of our weight loss program that will help us to be motivated to continue.

However, for many people that may have issues with metabolism, yo-yo dieting in the past, or other factors that inhibit their weight loss, the tried and true methods of healthy eating and exercise are not enough to accomplish their quick weight loss goals, although obviously those are the basics for long term weight loss. The long term health benefits of being diligent are well worth your while!

The first step is always to create a body that burns fat even while at rest. Exercise that strengthens your core and builds muscle will aid this process. Early morning exercise is often recommended for this, simply to maintain your fat burning throughout the day. There are easy ways to achieve this in your day to day activities that can help! What do you do and where do you go that you can add extra steps? Do laps around the outside aisles at the grocery store to increase your movement, park further away and walk an extra few minutes each day to your destinations, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and grab a pedometer to track your daily increase!

Once you begin to pay attention to your body and it's daily movements, it's time to seek out some form of exercise that you can fall in love with. Grab a friend and try a dance class, or a sport. It's time to think outside of your normal thought process, you may try several things but I am confident that some form of exercise exists for everyone that they can enjoy! If you can find your perfect fit, exercise will cease to be tedious, and become something to look forward to!

And remember, you are never to old! Never having been an athlete or having played a sport, I took up tennis in my early 40's at the request of my husband. I grabbed a girlfriend and we took some lessons, and we both very quickly fell in love with it! I've met many a person on the courts that took it up in their 40's, 50's, and even 60's! I have a friend that took up martial arts in her 50's and fell in love with it, much to her surprise!

Food is of vital importance to your quick weight loss goals! Not eating enough will inhibit long term effectiveness, and eating too much will obviously cause more calories in and more pounds added! Eating small meals more often helps you feel less hungry, especially if you focus on nutritious foods...your body craves the vitamins and minerals and if you eat foods without them you will soon crave more food!

A food and exercise tracking aid can help immensely in this process. There are tons of great ones available online that will allow you to really see what your daily caloric intake is, how many calories you are burning with your exercise, and even track the amount of water you are drinking.

If you take the time to figure out what your habits are, and change up the ones that are causing you to not achieve your goals, you can make a huge impact on achieving your healthy body weight. Move your body more, pay attention to what you eat, and find an effective weight loss aid for you and you can quickly enjoy the results of your efforts!

how to make perfect body

Getting the perfect body fast is no easy feat. Achieving your goal will take a plan, commitment to the plan and patience. To get the perfect body, you must lose weight and build muscle with changes in your diet and adherence to a strict strength training and cardiovascular exercise program. In addition, you must continually monitor your progress to make sure you are improving and getting the perfect body fast.
Diet
Step 1

Reduce your overall caloric intake if you need to lose weight to get the perfect body. Choose foods that are low in calories, such as fruits and vegetables. Reduce your portion to a saucer-sized plate of food. Eat up to six times a day to give your body the proteins and energy it needs continually to become the perfect body.

Step 2

Eat lean meats, such as fish, poultry, pork or lean red meat, to make sure you have enough protein to build the perfect body. When you strength train, you break down muscle that needs to be rebuilt. Your body needs protein stores available to add muscle. Two to three servings of protein per day are adequate.
Step 3

Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Stay hydrated to have effective workouts, and to lose or maintain your weight. Drink at least eight glasses of water per day. Drink one to two glasses of water per hour during your workouts, depending on the intensity.
Exercise
Step 1

Begin a strength-training program. You do not need to join a gym or purchase additional weights. Instead, perform exercises that just require your body weight, including pushups, squats, lunges, calf raises, crunches and triceps dips.
Step 2

Perform these six exercises three times per week. For each exercise, perform three sets. For each set, do as many repetitions as you can until you are too tired to perform another repetition. Rest for 30 seconds. Perform your next set. After you finish one exercise, rest for 30 seconds and start the next exercise. Write down how many repetitions you can perform per each set before you have to stop. Try to beat your record the next time you work out. Allow yourself one day of rest between workouts.
Step 3

Jog for 45 minutes per run, five days per week, to get the perfect body fast. Cardiovascular exercise will help you burn additional calories and shed fat, which will rest in a lean body. Jog at a pace that causes you to sweat. Allow yourself to take breaks until you get in good enough shape to run the full 45 minutes. Record your distance in your journal and try to run farther the next run.

Workout Details: Sets, Reps, Rest, Duration and Frequency

When designing your weight training program, you are faced with questions about how many reps/sets to perform, how long to rest between sets or how long/how often to train. There is not a unique answer to these questions, but there are some basic guidelines that must be respected. This post intends to provide you with these basic guidelines in order to properly decide your workout details.

The number of reps is usually a cause of concern. As a general guide, the 1-5 rep range is more appropriated for strength training, the 6-12 rep range for hypertrophy training (i.e. muscle growth) and above 12 reps for endurance training. However, optimal training combines cycles of different rep ranges, stimulating in this way both fast-twitch and slow-twitch fibers. In any case, always perform a strict movement (mastering the weight during the whole rep and using a full range of motion) with a prolonged contraction (feeling the pump and the burn in the muscle).

The number of sets can also vary greatly. On one side, it depends on your recuperation. Doing more sets than you can recuperate from is a shortcut to overtraining. On the other side, the amount of sets should stimulate as much fiber as possible and should be enough to train the muscle consistently (using different exercises to target all muscle sections). Depending on the muscle, the number of working sets per muscle (excluding warm-up) can stay between 3 and 10. When deciding this value, don’t forget that you have to keep your workouts short (preferably less than 1 hour) because after that time cortisol secretion will inhibit GH/testosterone output, causing muscle breakdown and limiting your gains. Your goal should be intensity. Focus on each set and give always 100% (don't save yourself for the next set).

Rest between sets determines also the intensity of your workout. As a rule, take the time your muscles and your nervous system need to recover. Attempt to keep the time as short as possible. Nevertheless, take into account that the time needed for recovering when training with heavy weights and lower reps can be longer than the time needed when using light weights and higher reps. Similarly, big muscles recover slower than small muscles. Finally, take care to do some flexing and stretching between sets to keep the muscle warm and avoid injury.

Workout frequency is another important decision. A muscle grows only when recovering from intense training. Don’t train again a muscle until it is fully recovered (this can take several days). Go to the gym 3 o 4 times per week and train each muscle once a week. Going more often stresses the body, impedes recovery, and can lead to overtraining.

To conclude, I want to provide you with some links where you can find additional advice on how to decide the appropriate values for the workout details discussed in this post. Check the article “The Sets and Reps of It” included in the I.C.E. Training Program developed by Big Cat, the article “The Complete Guide to Beginning Bodybuilding” by Bill Geiger & Larry Shackelford, and finally the “Workout Details” section of Muscle 101 site.

body building

It may trouble you to learn that the gym is not the best place to get the ideal male body. Most health clubs are based around the idea that you want to target and isolate individual muscles for enlargement. If an exercise puts you on a machine, chair, or bench, it probably isolates muscle. If a workout promises bigger biceps or pecs, it probably isolates muscle. Muscles were designed to work together in groups. Bodies that are built up by isolating muscles look asymmetrical and clumsy.

Overly defined six-pack abs, for instance, help us do only a meaningless skill—flex our abdomen. Which is why Michelangelo's David, though he has a very lean waist, has only a partial six-pack. The same goes for the "canon of proportions," as embodied in the famed Leonardo da Vinci drawing known as Vitruvian Man.

The job of a torso is to transmit the so-called hoop forces needed to hold your body rigid in a pull-up, push-up, or handstand—either for exercise or applied in real-world situations. A torso is a thing of male beauty, and it has nothing to do with the questionable business of crunches or sit-ups or ab rollers. Abs, of course, do have a way of closing the deal in the bedroom, and that's no small thing.

"Gym-styled exercise cannot produce naturally elegant physiques," says Frenchman Erwan Le Corre, the founder of MovNat, a back-to-nature-style fitness movement. "To me the aesthetic appeal of a body is not apparent when it poses, but when it moves."

"You can tell the difference between a guy that has done only gym exercise and someone who has worked on his feet," says Mark Lauren, author of You Are Your Own Gym. "If one guy is a rugby player and the other has been going to the gym doing cardio and isolation movements, the athlete doesn't just look strong, he is strong." Not only does a naturally derived physique help you when you use your body—on the playing field, on the dance floor, in bed—it remains intuitively desirable.

"We know in general that people are more attractive when their bodies look natural," says Gordon Patzer, author of Looks: Why They Matter More Than You Ever Imagined. "We have this weird thing where we want people to look very attractive in their body . . . without having sat in the gym and done one exercise over and over to build up one particular part." Not weird at all.

Body Building Exercises

Arms
The arms are separated into 3 areas - the biceps, the triceps and the forearms. The main exercises for the biceps are curls. The triceps are the biggest muscle in the arm and one of the least worked muscles in the body. The best exercises for the triceps are the triceps pushdowns and lying extensions. Also dips are a good triceps exercise and also work the chest well. For the forearms the best exercises are wrist curls.

Shoulders
Shoulders are sometimes the most difficult muscles to train. The best exercises are shoulder presses and shrugs. When doing shrugs use a really heavy weight and that will get your shoulders packing on the muscle.

Chest
The chest is the most worked, focused on and favorite muscle for nearly all bodybuilders. The chest is divided into two parts: higher and lower chest. The bench press is the best exercise, however there are variations. A flat bench press, the incline and decline work the uppers and lower chest area. Another great exercise for the chest is the fly.

Back
The Back is the biggest muscle of the body, divided into upper, lower and then the sides. For the upper part of the back, lateral pull downs and seated pulley rows are a good exercise. For the lower back, the superman stretch is good. To perform this lie down on your stomach with hands and legs stretched straight. The reverse extension is a good lower back exercise. For the sides of the back to get the V shape, good exercises are chins and pull downs.

Legs
The legs have 3 different muscles – quadriceps, hamstrings and calves. Squats are definitely the best exercise for the legs. Squats target the quadriceps. For the hamstrings, the best exercises are leg curls and stiff-legged dead lifts. And for the calves, the best exercises are calf raises both standing and sitting.

Abs
Squeezing the muscle develops abs. The abs take a long time to develop and the best gains come from crunches, pelvic tilts and side bends. With these 3 exercises you target all 3 areas of the abs. The crunch targets the upper abs. The pelvic tilts target the lower abs and the side bends target the obliques, which are the side abs.

Weightlifting

"Weightlifting" is one of the world's most misunderstood and under-appreciated sports. Part of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 (with a women's event having been added in 2000), weightlifting is the only Olympic sport in which heavy weights are used. Weightlifting is the only weight sport that is included as an event in the Olympic Games - which is why the sport of Weightlifting is often referred to as "Olympic Weightlifting" or simply "Olympic Lifting".

The best lifters in the world in the lighter weight classes can lift as much as 2.5 times their bodyweight in the Snatch). The best super heavyweight weightlifters in history have lifted nearly 500-lb./227.5 kg.

In the clean and jerk (C&J), the bar is also lifted to full arm's length overhead. Since the athlete is lifting the bar in two stages in the C&J, heavier weights can be lifted in the C&J than in the snatch.

Weightlifting is a sport in which the strongest and most powerful men and women in the world compete. Weightlifters simply have the strongest and most powerful muscles in the world, developed by hard and very specialized training that develops enormous strength without the "bulk" that bodybuilders, like Arnold Schwarzenegger, possess. Bodybuilders are dedicated athletes and many are quite strong, but they are not as strong as the best weightlifters and their muscles needn't be strong because they compete solely on the basis of the appearance of their muscles, not their strength (muscle size and strength are not highly correlated).

There are four broad categories of those who train with weights: weight trainers, bodybuilders, power lifters and weightlifters.

Those who train with weights for general fitness purposes, or to improve their performance in another sport, are typically referred to as "weight trainers". Athletes with much smaller and less visible muscles can often out-lift bodybuilders by a wide margin. Those who train purely for strength often participates in a sport called "Powerlifting". Bodybuilders don't train primarily for strength. Powerlifters, many of whom are wonderful strength athletes, do not face the level of competition that weightlifters do. Wrestlers and football players (along with many other athletes) train with weights to improve their size and strength.

Weightlifting is primarily a test of strength and power (power is a factor in this sport because being able to move a heavy barbell relatively rapidly is as important as pure strength).

The Full Squat Lift Technique

If you could only do one weight training exercise to promote muscle strength, tone, power, and core strength it would be hard not to choose the full squat exercise. The beauty and simplicity of the full squat is often overlooked by recreational exercisers, but most elite and pro athletes use the squat as the basis of a well-rounded weight training program.

This king of all compound exercises takes some instruction and practice to master. Incorrectly performed full squats may lead to injury so it is essential that you learn how to do a squat safely. A session with a certified personal or athletic trainer can help you gain experience and confidence when performing the squat. It is also recommended that you check with your doctor before beginning any new exercise regimen.

Here are guidelines for the correct set-up and execution of the full squat exercise.

Use a Squat Rack
Using a squat rack improves the safety of the squat exercise. It has a full cage to catch the bar if you are unable to stand back up. Put the safety catch pins low enough so you can perform the full squat but high enough that they will prevent a total collapse of the weight onto your body should you miss the lift.

Hand Placement
Place your hands evenly on the bar to keep the bar in balance once you move out of the rack. Grip the bar with a closed grip until you are familiar enough with the holding of the bar to go to the open grip.

With your hands in the right position you should be looking directly at the middle of the bar. Duck under the bar keeping your hands in place.

Bar Position
There are two common positions for bar placement.
The high bar: The bar rests on the top of the posterior deltoids at the base of the neck; hands just wider than shoulder width.
The low bar: The bar rests at the lower portion of the junction of the trapezius and posterior deltoid region; hands a little wider than shoulder width. This position takes longer to learn but is well worth it in the end as it provides an excellent shelf; to hold the bar and it shortens the moment arm of the lift. Both help contribute to a higher load on the bar.

The Lifting Belt
A belt is not necessary for most people. If you become dependent on the belt you will fail to develop a strong core that is needed to correctly lift the weight in the first place. It's better to lift well within your capacities at the outset and engage those synergistic muscles than to bolster them with artificial aides early on in the training program.

Head Angle
Looking up at about a ten to twenty degree angle in front of you of will keep your head in the correct alignment for the lift to safely continue.

Back Positioning
Hold your back in a neutral to slightly arched manner. Avoid rounding in the lower back.

The Lift Movement - Stepping Out
Lift the bar off the hooks with your legs and not by extending your back. Take one small step backward followed by a second small step with the other foot. Align your feet a little wider than shoulder width apart.

The Lift Movement - The Descent
With your feet evenly spaced, take a deep breath. The descent begins with your hips moving backward, and not with your knees bending. Unhinging at the hips allows the body to drop down while still keeping the lower legs in an upright aspect relationship to the floor. It also brings into play the powerful hip flexors and extensors during the movement. You now have tremendously effective synergistic muscle activity to complete the exercise.

Practice this by standing in a doorway and holding onto the doorway with both hands. Step back one foot length away from the doorway while still holding on. Lean back onto your feet, now drop your buttocks down to the floor. If you let loose of the door, you will fall backward, but notice that your lower legs are nearly vertical in relation to the floor. This is the ideal squat position at the bottom.

The Lift Movement - The Bottom
Once at the bottom of the lift, begin moving upwards by first pushing up on the bar with your hands while at the same time extending out your chest and head. Doing this counteracts the momentum of the bar as you approached the bottom of the lift.

The Lift Movement - The Ascent
The bar is now moving and you want to keep the weight centered over the middle to back part of the foot, not on your toes. Accelerate the bar throughout the lift until you reach a point where it has to be stopped, i.e. near the end at the top. Maintain control of the bar at all times.

Return to the Rack
Take the two to three small steps back into bar hooks. Make certain you place the bar into the hooks before letting go.

Performing the full squat in the correct manner will improve your muscle mass, strength and power and is one of the overall best total body exercises you can do.
